Set among the foothills of Shamakhi, where sunny vineyards meet fertile lands, Meysari brings a new expression to one of Azerbaijan’s oldest winemaking traditions. Here, wine is more than a taste experience — it is a story shaped by soil, climate, time, and craftsmanship.
Meysari Grand Hotel & Spa invites guests to discover the region’s vineyard heritage, the character of local grape varieties, and the refined culture of modern winemaking.
Meysari Winery brings together Shamakhi’s long-standing viticulture heritage with a modern and responsible approach to winemaking. Located at the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains, the area benefits from sunny days, elevated vineyards, and naturally rich soils that create favorable conditions for grape cultivation. Winemaking here begins with respect for nature. From the vineyards to the production process, every stage is guided by care, precision, and a commitment to preserving the character of the land. Meysari Winery’s Ecocert certification reflects its environmentally responsible and socially conscious production approach.
Shamakhi is known as one of Azerbaijan’s historic regions for grape growing and winemaking. Its mountain landscape, changeable microclimate, and long sunny seasons have supported viticulture for generations.
In the past, winemaking was closely connected to family vineyards, local farms, and seasonal harvest traditions. Grapes were not only used for wine production, but also formed an important part of local table culture, hospitality, and everyday village life. Today, this heritage continues in Meysari through a more modern winemaking perspective.
Shamakhi is closely associated with distinctive local grape varieties. One of the most well-known is Madrasa, a native red grape variety named after the Madrasa village in the Shamakhi region and strongly connected to the historic Shirvan area.
Alongside Madrasa, varieties such as Shirvanshahi and other local Azerbaijani grapes contribute to the region’s winemaking identity. These grapes bring deeper regional character, unique aromas, and a strong sense of place to the wines.
The natural conditions of Shamakhi can be clearly felt in the character of Meysari wines. Mountain air helps preserve freshness in the grapes, while sunny days support balanced ripening and fuller flavor development. This natural balance gives Meysari wines both elegance and expression. Each bottle carries traces of Shamakhi’s soil, the rhythm of the vineyards, and the character of the season.
Inspired by the land, shaped by the sun, and refined with time, Meysari wines reflect the natural character of Shamakhi’s vineyards.
Each wine offers its own aroma, taste profile, and grape composition — creating a graceful journey from vineyard to table.
